Alan played a vital role in designating Mainstreet as a historic district this is a way to preserve the downtown area & support businesses.  In his commitment to revitalizing Mainstreet, Alan expanded the Facade Improvement Program, ushering in a more vibrant atmosphere.

The expansion of the police cadet program underscores Alan's dedication to public safety and community welfare.

Alan's engagement in numerous organizations, such as the Hopkins Crime Prevention Board and the Hopkins Elks, showcases his dedication to community service. His active participation in various community development initiatives, including a fire department staffing study and support for mentoring programs, reflects his determination to foster growth and improvement in Hopkins.

Alan's advocacy for better projects from the Met Council and the light rail demonstrates his passion for improving our area's infrastructure. Alan has often been the lone voice in advocating for Hopkins as the Met Council changes the scope and cost of light rail.

Alan played a pivotal role in driving forward the rental housing program revisions, and establishing a business retention pilot program.
