Senate District 49 Republicans are starting up the fall dinner program series on Tuesday evening, September 24, featuring four of the candidates vying for three slots on the Edina School Board.

Linda Friede, Garrett Knudsen, Lou Nanne Jr, and Sarah Patzloff have accepted our invitation. Despite SD49 having successfully hosted a forum last year in which all of the city council candidates participated, another three of the School Board candidates declined. Julie Greene, Janie Shaw, and Leny Wallen-Friedman decided not to participate as candidates “in political party sponsored events.”

Early voting in this year’s local elections opens on September 20, so this forum should offer a good opportunity for Edina voters to consider the seven candidates. For attendees who live outside of Edina, the program should offer the chance to explore topics of interest in secondary education today. Questions will be submitted by the audience and addressed to all of the candidates.

Join us on September 24 in the Fellowship Hall of the Calvary Lutheran Church, 6817 Antrim Rd, Edina, MN 55439. We start at 6:00 pm with an opportunity to welcome our presenter and greet one another. At 6:30 pm, we will make available a light meal, dessert, and a beverage.
